Healthy snacks to pack for Christmas travel…

In this day and age travelling is a breeze, but eating healthily while travelling? It’s still an obstacle… one that’s easily overcome with some planning

It’s a busy time of year for travelling (via planes, trains and automobiles) and if you’re cooped up in a car for five hours with nothing but bags of crisps and sweets you’re not doing yourself any favours. The dreaded salty bloat is bound to set in by the end of the trip.
It’s true that the food options at rest stops and airports have improved over the years and now included are some healthier snacks and ready-meals, but – let’s face it – the salty and sugary snacks are still the most convenient and portable.
We tend to get dehydrated when we travel, making matters worse, even if we aren’t eating salty foods. If you add salty nibbles to the mix you’re setting yourself up to be tired and grumpy upon arrival.

Packing snacks is a less expensive option and our easy recipes will leave you feeling energised, not dehydrated.

Try travelling with some of these snacks this Christmas…

Power smoothie

This smoothie recipe is perfect for car rides. Whip it up, divide into sports bottles and store in a cool bag. It’s a refreshing blend of banana and spinach and the addition of chia seeds means you’ll feel fuller for longer and be less tempted to stop off for fast food at service stations.
